FVHS celebrated its student-athletes on Feb. 4 as a total of 10 seniors officially committed to continue their academic and athletic career at the collegiate level. The event recognized each athlete’s drive and success marking a major milestone for these athletes.
Among these students, four students Gillian Gavette, Lucy Reder, Sydney Remmer, and Hannah Tarpley committed to playing lacrosse at UV Wise, Mount Olive, and North Greenville. Two softball players, Kylie MacGrogan and Joella McLeod, committed to playing at Mars Hill and Methodist.
Two students, James Barrow and Logan Nelson are looking forward to playing baseball at William Peace and Rockingham CC. Finally, a flag football player, Emma Peacock, is going on to play at Meredith, and Grady Stanley committed to bass fishing at Carson Newman. These athletes highlight a wide range of athletics in our school.
Peacock is excited to attend Meredith College to play flag football.
“My biggest goal in college is to be a person that people go to whenever they are struggling, whether that’s on or off the field,” said Peacock.
Peacock plays on the Fuquay-Varina flag football team which was 10-8 this season. She is a wide receiver who helped her team to victory in the 2025 season.
Another signee, senior Kylie MacGrogan committed to Mars Hill University to continue her softball career. MacGrogan extended her gratitude and excitement for this opportunity.
“Commiting to Mars Hill honestly feels unreal. It’s something I’ve worked toward for so long, so being able to finally say it’s official is such a blessing,” said MacGrogan.
MacGrogan, a pitcher, plans to continue balancing athletics and academics at the collegiate level.
As these students graduate and continue their career, the FVHS community looks forward to cheering each and every one of these amazing athletes on.
