Whether writing on paper or on a computer is beneficial for an individual is entirely dependent on what the person prefers. There’s no “specific” answer to which one is better, but there are benefits to each singular one.

Computers are typically more efficient for speed, editing and better for jotting down ideas quicker. They make it much easier to type out thoughts as quickly as you process them, which makes it easier to form good essays as well as answer questions better and more efficiently.

Junior Olamide Adesina said, “I prefer a computer. Typing is easier, and I am able to edit my answers with the tap of a button rather than having to erase and go over it even though you can still see the mistakes. I can do whatever fonts I want to and the writing is more neat on the computer as well.”

However, writing by hand is preferable for things such as memory retention and increased quality of learning. Handwriting actually engages a network of brain regions related to motor control visual processing. This ensures more effective long-term retention makes it easier for better long-term retention. Writing by hand can reveal a person’s traits and help the reader understand them before they interpret it further. In an article by “Readers Digest,” it was found that things such as spacing, letter formations, and the formations and overall writing quality can all reveal a person’s inner traits.

Senior Nafisa Chowdhury said, “I like writing on paper better than on the computer because it helps me retain the information that I am learning about.”

Ultimately, the choice of writing by hand or computer is based on an individual’s preferences. While technology may offer easier editing and faster speed to jot down information, writing on paper helps with better absorption of memory and learning. The best method of writing is entirely subjective based on people’s varying opinions.
