The Olympic Games, a celebration of diversity in sports, is one of the most prolific sporting events in the world. It showcases talents from over 190 countries and promises a thrilling and diverse array of competitions.

This summer, the 2024 Olympics will be held in the iconic city of love, Paris, France, infusing the event with a unique and exciting energy. This year, the Olympics will be a historic event, with the introduction of breakdancing, a thrilling and unexpected addition to the 2024 Games.

The Paris Games will include one mens and one womens event where 16 B-Boys and 16 B-Girls will go face to face in spectacular solo battles,” according to Olympics.com.

Breakdancing is not the only new sport to the Olympic Games. Kiteboarding, kayak cross, and mens artistic swimming will also be featured in the 2024 Games.

Along with the new events being added this summer, Team USA is looking to once again be number one in the medal count.

“The USA is expected to be number one in the medal count with a total of 123 medals including 39 golds,” according to Nielsen GracenoteSports.

A majority of these medals are projected to be won in track and field, swimming and shooting.

Other than the USA, China is looking to take home 89 total medals and Great Britain is predicted to win 66 medals. A majority of these medals for both countries are projected to be won in cycling, diving and weightlifting.

This year’s Olympics also will mark the first time an equal number of men and women will be competing at the event, a historic year that will be remembered for generations to come.

The 2024 Summer Olympics are right around the corner, and before we know it, the torch will be lit and flags will be raised to start the most anticipated event of the year.
