The FVHS mens tennis team has gone undefeated their entire season until recently. The team currently holds an 8-1 record. In all of their previous games, they dominated the opposing teams. In their game on Mar. 19, at South Garner, they won 9-0, and in the games prior, they dominated almost exactly the same way.
Monish Allada is a junior on the team and has played for two years.
“Our consistency and depth have been the biggest factors. Everyone on the team has stepped up when needed, and we push each other to improve every day,” said Allada.
When playing tennis, you need to focus on your dynamic and endurance while also making sure you work well with your teammates.
Senior Finn Goecke said, “I practice three times a week, and it has allowed me to be more confident in my skills.”
Allada also said, “We practice every single day of the week. The continued repetitions helps us improve areas of our game on a daily basis.”
FVHS and Willow Spring High had a game on Thursday, March 27. FVHS ended up losing 6-3. They didn’t come out on top like they had planned, but they played hard.
Willow Spring had a record of 8-2 before the game, which made this game important because the teams were so close. Every time one of our teams plays Willow Spring, they battle for the victory bell, but unfortunately, they couldn’t bring the bell home this season.
Before the game Allada said “We are ready to play Willow. We’re going to be down a couple starters but we will still give our best effort.”
When we come back from Spring Break, they will have a match April 7 at Southeast Raleigh at 3:30 p.m.
