On Dec. 6, 2025, many Fuquay-Varina residents were quite pleased to see a large group of people walking downtown blaring Christmas music on their instruments along with guys in Santa suits following in the near distance.
The Christmas parade was orchestrated by The Writing, Music and Film Society, a non-profit organization founded in 2015. The parade went through downtown Fuquay and it lasted for a few hours.
In total, over 1,500 people participated in the parade. The organization’s co-founder Jill Johnson Eagan said on their website, “Our mission is to help writers, musicians and filmmakers produce, publish and succeed along with reaching out and providing support and nourishment for our community.”
The parade goers were extremely cold as temperatures reached as low as 33 degrees, but they had a good time regardless.
Seventh grader Spencer Yates, a participant in the parade with the FVHS band, said, “I helped carry the banner for Fuquay-Varina High School. The first time I did it, I felt like it was kind of boring but this time it was much more fun because I knew the path better, and I could look back at what the guards were doing more often.”
Overall, the Fuquay-Varina Christmas parade had, give or take, 1,500 participants, three zones and more than 80 floats. Since it’s an annual parade, eager readers will have to wait for the next one to come around, so mark your calendars for Dec. 6, 2026.
