Radiohead had its last tour in 2018 and stopped touring and went on a break for seven years. As of recently, seven years later, they are going back on tour in Europe. For those unaware, Radiohead is a British rock band formed in 1985 and first performed in 1987. The band was first named On Friday but would be changed to Radiohead some time later in the band’s career. The band’s first song performed was not recorded. Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood and Ed O’Brien are the guitarists of the group. Philip Selway is the drummer, and Thom Yorke is the lead singer and songwriter of the group.
Radiohead is well known now, but it took years for them to gain popularity. When the group initially formed, Greenwood was not in the group, but he ended up joining in 1991. The band had its first tour in April of 1992, but for the purpose of supporting another band called Catherine Wheel. In September of that year, after the tour, they released their first single called “Creep.” This song would soon become a hit, gaining massive popularity.
After that, they made many albums that they went on tours for such as “Pablo Honey,” “The Bends,” “The King of Limbs” and “A Moon Shaped Pool,” which was the last album and tour they had back in 2018. They stopped touring because of the uncertainty of Covid-19 and personal reasons such as burnout and mourning since Yorke’s wife had passed away. These were the main reasons why the band went on hiatus.
That was seven years ago. The band has now left their hiatus and are going back on tour. The tours will last from Nov. 4 to Dec. 12 of 2025. They will be performing many songs, both singles and those from specific albums. They will be touring Europe only, as their designated tour countries are Spain, Italy, the UK, Denmark and Germany.
Musicians can be fun and popular, but underneath all that, they can still have personal problems and burnout. But just because a band goes into hiatus does not mean they cannot come back. People just have to be patient and give them time. It goes for more than bands too. Anyone can go into hiatus, and people should respect that.
