Have you ever heard the songs “Lush Life” or “Ruin My Life” by Zara Larsson? You might have a while ago, but maybe you’ve forgotten them. The Swedish pop singer that created these songs and is currently on tour all around the world.
Back on Oct. 1, 2014, Larsson came out with her first album, “1,” marking the beginning of her career. Three years later she would go on her first tour, traveling from Sweden all the way to South America. She gained a lot of popularity during this time for her singing and her fun music. People really enjoyed her songs because they thought they were a perfect fit for the era.
Unfortunately, like many other artists, she experienced a career crash. Her downfall began in 2021 and lasted to 2024. Sure, people went to her concerts, but they weren’t as crazy about them as they were before. She was originally known (and is still currently known) for her beachy/island girl look, but during those middle tours she had seemingly lost her spark. Fans also moved on to music that was more fitting for the era and not stuck back in 2015 vibes.
As time went on she went on more tours, but it wasn’t until the summer of 2024 when her music career would regain popularity. Larsson featured in a Clean Bandit song titled “Symphony” which came out in 2017. The song went viral on TikTok after a person had posted a meme to the song with a colorful photo of a dolphin in the background. If you’ve never seen it before, you can look it up on any social media platform.
This meme gave Larsson’s career a new start. She took the idea of the photo and ran with it. Some fans have speculated that she got her style and look from the meme. Ever since then, she has become even more popular and is now culturally relevant.
Another reason why she sparked up again very recently was because of her new tour “Midnight Sun.” She is known for her performance skills and engaging with her crowd. With that being said, if you’ve seen videos from her concerts, she will sometimes pull a person up from the crowd and bring them onto the stage. Either she will let you sing, spray paint your shirt or let you dance with them. A particular girl named Julia went viral on TikTok for knowing the dance to “Lush Life” and doing it on stage. After that, Larsson got a lot more recognition.
Even though she had a downfall in her music career, she managed to find a way to bring it back up and continue making more music. She’s currently on her “Midnight Sun” tour from 2025-2026 going all around the world.
