Movies have been around for hundreds of years. Over time movies have advanced alongside technology. There are thousands of movies all over the world as well as many genres such as horror, action, and romance. Horror and romance movies are a popular genre nowadays, so it’s no surprise that most movies involve them.
“The Black Phone” is a popular horror movie that was released on June 24, 2022, after several delays. The movie is about a young boy who gets kidnapped by a killer who goes by the name ‘The Grabber.’ The boy’s only source of communication is a disconnected black wall phone that allows him to communicate with The Grabber’s dead victims, all the while his sister gets psychic dreams that help locate him. The movie was an instant hit and the positive response allowed for a sequel, “The Black Phone 2.”
“The Black Phone 2” has a somewhat similar plot to the original. A 15-year-old girl gets nightmares of three boys in a winter camp being stalked with her brother. The pair go out to the winter camp and end up meeting The Grabber, who has grown even stronger in death since he was killed off in the first movie.
“Regretting You,” also another new theatrical release in theaters, is a movie about a mother and her daughter’s strained relationship that finally shatters after the girl’s father dies in a car crash. However this accident also reveals to the mother that he was having an affair, she then hides that information from her daughter. In the movie, the pair mourn and cope separately in their own ways. The mother, Morgan, falls in love with her friend Jonah after he had continuously helped her cope with the affair, and her daughter, Clara, falls in love with a classmate named Miller who also helps her cope with the loss of her father. Later in the movie, Morgan reveals her husband’s affair to Clara, which helps both of them understand each other and reconcile.
From the terrifying, supernatural suspense of “The Black Phone” and its sequel, “The Black Phone 2” to the deeply personal family drama of “Regretting You,” there’s something for everyone when it comes to the movie theater.
