“Stranger Things” season five releases on Netflix on Nov. 26, 2025. Are you a fan of the show? If so, brace yourself, as the fifth season will have eight episodes available to watch soon. Here’s what we know.
The season will be released in three parts, with the first four episodes set for release on Nov. 26, 2025. The first four episodes will have a runtime of about four hours and 31 minutes in total. The following three episodes will be released on Christmas Day, and the finale on New Year’s Eve. The finale will be available in select theaters on New Years Eve and New Years Day for fans to conclude the almost decade-long TV phenomena beyond the big screen together. The final episode will have a runtime of around two hours and 30 minutes, making it the longest in the series.
The new season will feature the return of the main cast, and there will be new characters played by Linda Hamilton, Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly and Alex Breaux. Fisher will replace character Holly Wheeler, and Hamilton will be playing new character Dr. Kay.
The story picks up in the fall of 1987, with Hawkins, Indiana, under military quarantine and the rifts to the Upside Down still open. The main characters must work together to find and defeat Vecna, while dealing with the government’s pursuit of Eleven.
An official trailer for the season has also been released. For those who don’t remember anything since the last release of season four in July of 2022, the official Stranger Things YouTube channel has been posting recaps of every episode along with reactions from the cast.
In the videos, cast members have stated several things about the new season with Noah Schnapp, who stars as Will Byers, expressing in awe how season four is “all the world knows of ‘Stranger Things.’”
Schnapp followed by saying, “Little do they [viewers] know what’s coming.” The comment clearly hints at an unexpected ending.
“If you [viewers] thought last season [four] was nuts, this season is just out of control,” said Jamie Bower, the actor who plays Vecna, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Vecna is expected to be stronger and scarier than ever with his powers now fully effective in the real world.
Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield, is also confirmed to return, though her character is in a coma at the start of the season.
Sink has stated in an interview with “Time Magazine,” “They wouldn’t have kept me around if they didn’t have a purpose for me. They would have killed me off.”
Despite theories that may spread online, no official cast or producers of the show have revealed any significant events that will unfold in the last chapter, such as which characters will die. It’s up to us as the viewers to tune in to watch the final battle unfold on Nov. 28, 2025, which is the official release date as of now.
