Students, staff and families are getting ready for a big milestone at FVHS. The school will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary on Bengal Boulevard with a special event that brings the whole community together. The celebration will take place May 2, at 10 a.m. and will include an open house and an educator reunion. The event is open to the public and is expected to bring in many visitors from Fuquay-Varina and beyond. FVHS has grown into a place known for school spirit, strong academics and student activities.
“It’s a chance to recognize the school’s history while sharing it with the community,” said sophomore Vyshnavi Sripurna Sadheda Banothu.
The event will feature several highlights that celebrate both the past and present of FVHS. One of the key moments will be a special proclamation from Mayor Bill Harris, recognizing the school’s impact on the community. There will also be 50th anniversary awards given to individuals who have made a difference in the school’s history. These awards will honor teachers, staff and community members who have supported FVHS over the years.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy student art displays and take part in historical tours of the school. These tours will give guests a chance to see how the campus has changed and learn more about important moments in its history.
“It is important to learn about our school’s history because it shows the foundation it was built on and helps us understand how much it has grown over time,” said junior Joshita Mani Vadaparthi.
The educator reunion will take place alongside the open house. Former and current teachers are expected to attend. This portion of the event provides the opportunity for educators to reconnect and take part in the anniversary program. Organizers have included this segment to recognize the role of staff in the school’s development.
“Many teachers have stayed at this school or even returned, and those teachers, along with the students, are what make FVHS special,” said sophomore Diya Krishnan Karthikeyan.
The 50th anniversary event will conclude after all scheduled activities are completed. The celebration serves as a milestone in the school’s history and provides an opportunity to present its development and achievements to the public.
