NHS is hosting the Bengal Birthday Bash, Thursday, March 26, in the library during A and B lunches. Students can stop by for cupcakes and other birthday party events. NHS members can also get hours for volunteering with the event.
Senior and NHS Vice President, Kiya Holland said, “NHS is hosting this event to celebrate Benny the Bengal’s 50th birthday and to have an event that brings all of our students and staff together to acknowledge him and our school.”
Many students are excited about cupcakes but also pinning the tail on the bengal and trivia. Others are hopeful to get more service hours especially as the seniors’ due date is soon approaching.
Holland said, “I hope to bring all the students and staff together, not only to celebrate Benny, but to have fun and socialize with one another. These events are important because they bring everyone together and allow them to have fun with each other during the school day, and hopefully meet new people.”
This event is a part of the 50th Year on Bengal Boulevard celebration that FVHS has been celebrating since the start of the school year. Other things happening for the celebration include the Media Center’s podcast of former students and teachers and how they help the community. Along with the podcast, the FVHS Legacy Patio is selling bricks to create a patio to remember the community and past students. It will be near the football field entrance.
Senior and NHS Vice President, Benjamin Balsley, said, “We hope to get as many people as possible to celebrate this huge milestone in our school’s history and for everyone to have a good time and enjoy themselves. Events like these are important for the school because it fosters community, engages students, and celebrates the rich history Fuquay-Varina has to offer.”
