Juniors are preparing to take the ACT March 4. Teachers are helping students prepare by having ACT practice days for the three subjects on the test: math, science and English. There are four practice days available: Feb. 17, Feb. 19, Feb. 24 and Feb. 26. There is also a drop in day on the Monday before the ACT. Tuesday, March 3 is a day off to study on your own.
The classes are doing the same training each time so students won’t miss any information. This way students can go to math, science, and English instead of only going to one because they worry more about that subject.
Junior Joshita Vadaparthi said, “I want to improve my skills and learn new things that I am unaware of.”
Math is in room 3210 with math teachers Kelli Murphy and Lydia Wyche. Science is in room 1704 with science teacher Laura Armfield. English is in room 2605 with English teachers Bonnie Halle and Kelly Prestipino.
Different subjects are getting different amounts of interest from students. On the first study day, English had around 40 students while science had 15 students. This shows which subjects students worry about the most.
Junior Caraline Kruger said, “Hosting events like this is important to prepare students who maybe don’t have the resources or motivation to do it themselves.”
