The air at FVHS is filled with excitement and anticipation as the womens soccer team prepares for their upcoming season with the first match against Willow Spring approaching fast. While the full roster is overflowing with talent, the leadership of the returning players will play a key role in the team’s success this season
Junior Violet Terrasse enters her third varsity season with a focus: to win. However, Terrasse brings a cool perspective to the game this year after committing to the Air Force Academy. While the achievement is a crazy milestone, she admitted that it feels different.
“It was very exciting when I got an offer at the Air Force Academy,” Terrasse said. “I feel like it’s more nerve-wracking now because I have so much pressure on me. I am committed to the Air Force, but I still have to get in with all of the academic process.”
The same drive to succeed is shared by junior Sofia Del Valle, who is heading into the season with strong offensive goals after a good season last year. Del Valle wants to increase her goals to help the team’s playoff push.
“I want to attack more on offense and score more goals than last season,” Del Valle said.
She also brought up that the team has key players returning from injury.
Del Valle said, “It’s exciting for them and also the team. I really want to win this season and make a postseason run, and with Violet back from injury, I am really confident.”
The Bengals’ journey begins soon against Willow Spring on Feb. 25 at home at 6:30 p.m. With leaders like Terrasse and Del Valle, the team is ready to turn their hopes into reality.
