The Carolina Hurricanes have started their season off with big wins, racking up an impressive 13-5-1 record, as well as climbing to a tie for first place in the Metropolitan Division with the 13-4-1 New Jersey Devils.
This year’s team has been led by their stellar offense and ability to score, just like last year. The scoring is mostly coming from centers Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis. Jarvis has 10 goals and five assists, while Aho has been more of a team player, with six goals and 10 assists.
“From cheering in the stands to becoming a pro, I’ll never forget where [my] love for this game began,” said Jarvis, via Instagram.
One player who has really broken through for the Canes this year is center Logan Stankoven. Stankoven really found his place in Carolina during the playoffs last season, where he put up eight points. This season, he is in ninth for scoring on the Hurricanes with nine points.
Holding the team back right now is the absence of their star defensive man, Jaccob Slavin, who suffered a lower-body injury during the second game of the season. Right now, it is uncertain as to when Slavin will come back, with head coach Rod Brind’Amour saying that Slavin would be “out for a while” according to CBS Sports.
Looking ahead to the next 10 games, the difficulty decreases significantly from the last 10. The hardest team they face are the Winnipeg Jets, which should be an easier win for the Hurricanes than the hard fought games in the past against teams like the Bruins and the Stars.
The Hurricanes’ next game is their hardest in their upcoming 10 games, taking place Friday, Nov. 21 in Winnipeg at 8:00 p.m., the broadcast will be through FanDuel Sports Network.
