The Women’s Health Outreach Advocates is hosting NC District 37 Representative Erin Pare as a guest speaker to share her journey in business, politics and leadership.The event is taking place in the FVHS Media Center Thursday, Nov. 13, from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Club members and students attending are excited to meet Pare and know more about her journey.
Bianca Hernandez Gracia, a WHOA officer, said, “I’m excited to get to know more about Erin Pare and hear from her directly about what struggles and successes she’s gone through to get to the position of leadership she’s in now.”
Pare is a Representative in the North Carolina House of Representatives, who represents the 37th district in Southern Wake County. and has served since Jan. 2021.
Pare also serves on many different committees and has many different positions in these committees, such as the House Committee on Appropriations; the Subcommittee on General Government, which is part of the Committee on Appropriations; the Committee on Energy and Public Utilities, where she is vice chair; and she serves as a Chair of the House Committee on Women in STEM, to name a few of her positions.
Pare lives in Holly Springs with her husband, Wayne, and they own Play It Again Sports. She spent seven years as a professional in government affairs in Washington D.C., which represented business and trade associations on public policy matters and regulatory reforms. She also was the director of the RIC, Regulatory Improvement Council.
Before being elected in office, Pare served as a PTYA president and as a board member for Holly Ridge Elementary School. Erin promotes music and the education of arts for both adults and children in K-12 schools, as she is a violinist and a violin teacher.
Since Pare has taken office, she has been given many awards and names, some of which include, “Jobs Champion” by the NC Chamber of Commerce and a “Defender of Public Safety” by the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association.
The club members are working hard to make sure the event goes smoothly.
Junior Ipsitha Karnam, an officer who is in charge of interclub coordination, of WHOA said, “We all take different positions, from helping with advertisements to setup [for the event].”
All FVHS students are welcome to attend the event.
