With NCAA basketball starting up, there are many things for fans to be excited about, including players to watch, the best teams and team rivalries. Players, coaches and fans prepare as NCAA basketball tips off.
Powerhouse teams want to defend their spots and underdogs want to surprise everyone with improvement. However, the schools with the most power might not be the ones to get the win this year.
The underdogs are determined to win and schools like UConn, Duke and Kansas never seem to disappoint.
Johni Broome is one of the best college basketball players, and fans are excited to see if he will deliver this season. He led his team, Auburn, in scoring, rebounding and blocks last season, so he is dominant on both sides of the court. College basketball also just lost one of its big stars, Cooper Flagg, to the Dallas Mavericks. Labaron Philon is another amazing competitor. His team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, is a great team, and he is one of the key drivers for his team’s success. He is filling the spot for Mark Sears who has now gone to the NBA and was leading his team before as a point guard. Philon has been reportedly studying Sears and focusing on how to run the offense effectively like he did. Another amazing player is Sidi Gueye, an up and coming freshman for the Arizona Wildcats mens basketball team and he is said to be a great addition to the team with lots of potential for the program’s record.
“The most important thing is I’m here, and I’m so excited to start,” said Sidi Gueye according to arizonawildcats.com.
The freshman was said to be picking up on college ball quickly at the team’s workouts and is a great addition to the team.
A junior, Coen Carr, is Michigan State Spartans’ forward, and he is ready to play the absolute best he can and is back in action for the season.
“I feel like I found myself again… I just try to make as many of those big plays as I can,” said Carr according to NCAA.com.
Carr is reflecting on his growth since freshman year and this really shows the journey that younger players go through trying to make it to the next level. There is so much hope for what these freshmen can do for their teams.
“Every team starts the season believing they can make a run to March,” said Kansas coach Bill Self. “That’s what makes college basketball special.”
