The Heart Club is an organization that raises awareness about heart disease and other health concerns about the heart. There are six officers, including the adviser, English teacher Allyson Wulfertt and co-presidents Lakshya Bobbili and Nicole He. FVHS students are invited to join the club, as it provides them volunteer opportunities and many events related to the heart.
The Heart Club meeting was Thursday, Nov. 5, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in room 4109. It is affiliated with the American Heart Association (AHA). The main goal of the club is to promote knowledge and awareness about cardiology and heart health. There were snacks and a heart themed game the students enjoyed. Officers and the adviser gave their introductions.
The students got new information about volunteering opportunities through AHA, and community events were also discussed during the interest meeting. Interested members also asked questions about upcoming events and volunteering opportunities.
Sophomore Daksha Ravva, a new member said, “I’m really excited to be a part of the Heart Club. It’s a great opportunity to learn about heart health, help others and make a positive impact in our school community.”
The club hopes to get maximum attendance and participation so the promotion of heart health is emphasized among students and school environment. Students are encouraged to participate in Heart Club activities during Heart Month, which is in February.
Bobbili said, “By joining the club students will get a nice place to learn about heart health/fitness in a fun way.”
Students should also take advantage of joining the club and improving their heart health. Bringing awareness to heart health among students can have positive effects on students’ health.
Heart Club events include, planning for guest speakers, trivia games, and awareness campaigns. There are still discussions for future events that involve partnering with other clubs, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
