Here at Fuquay-Varina High School, there is so much love and enthusiasm around the theater department. This upcoming summer, the theater department will host its very first youth theater camp, Fly Be Free.

Paige MacGovern, the teacher and drama club advisor here at Fuquay, is ecstatic to have the opportunity to give back to the younger generation.

“I’m super excited to have the little kids on stage. We had such a great time with the munchkins in The Wizard of Oz. This was just a no-brainer,” said MacGovern.

Macgovern has always had a special place in her heart for youth theater.

“I started my theater education career in youth theater. I love working with the youth and I’ve always known I want to do this. This is my end game goal when I retire from teaching theater in school to teach youth theater,” said Macgovern

Macgovern’s ultimate dream with this program is to have it be an annual event.

“I want to help spark the love for theater in our community’s youth, and I hope this can be continued after this year,” said Macgovern.

Fly Be Free is for children from the ages of 7-11. All of the information for the camp is posted on all FVHS theater social media platforms, where there’s a link to the Google document with the sign-up sheet and an information guide.
