Harry Styles, former One Direction star, secured his second and third Grammy Awards as well as won all four Brit Awards he was nominated for.

After winning Best Solo Performance in 2021, Styles was awarded the Grammys Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Then, only six days later, he won British Album of the Year, Song of the Year, British Artist of the Year, and Best Pop/R&B Act at the Brit Awards.

During his acceptance speech at the Brit Awards, Styles was extremely appreciative of the people who helped him get to where he is.

“I want to thank my mom for signing me up for X Factor without telling me, so I literally wouldn’t be here without you. I want to thank Niall, Louis, Liam, and Zayn, so I wouldn’t be here without you, either. Thank you so much. And I’m really, really grateful for this,” he said via the Brit Awards YouTube channel.

Styles’ old band member, Liam Payne, was quick to congratulate him on his big Grammy wins.

Wow… this image is really something to wake up to and when you write music like you do Harry you deserve every millisecond of that moment looking down and smiling at the trophy you’ve earned. God bless you brother congratulations,” Payne wrote in an Instagram post of Styles holding one of his Grammys.

However, Styles’s wins and acceptance speech caused controversy. Many fans were shocked when Styles won Album of the Year for his album “Harry’s House” over Beyoncé’s new album “Renaissance.”

During his acceptance speech, Styles said, “This doesn’t happen to people like me.”

This caused a huge backlash because people took this as him being oblivious to world events as a straight white male saying that winning a Grammy Award never happens to people like him.  However, his words were taken out of context; rather than talking about his race or sexuality, he was referring to his previous bad homelife. After his dad walked out on his family, then his stepfather passed, and his house was vandalized in London, Styles named his winning album “Harry’s House” to reflect his home in music.

Although the awards were contentious, Styles was extremely thankful for his recognition. The Grammys and the Brits just helped launch his career even more, and Styles is expected to become one of the most well-known artists in the world after his big week.
