Senior Sunset and Sunrise are important traditions for high school students to follow and continue, even though a lot of students don’t know the importance of these timeless traditions.

Senior Sunrise is a way for the graduating class to get together in the morning at the beginning of their last year to have fun and watch the sunrise with their friends. This tradition is used to bring the seniors together and to mark the start of the school year.

This year Senior Sunrise was held on August 25 at 6:15 a.m. on the Bengals football field. They offered activities and breakfast for the seniors that attended. A lot of students participated in the breakfast and were able to chalk their parking spots for the year.

“I went to hang out with my friends,” said senior Ryann Ahart.

This wasn’t the only reason people went to senior sunrise, even though some went to just hang out with friends. Others were pushed to go by their parents because they didn’t understand the importance of the tradition and their parents wanted to teach them.

“I went to just get out of the house,” said senior Brennan Ross.

This year’s Senior Sunset is going to be held on June 12, 2024. It starts at 6 p.m. and will be held on the Bengals football field.

There will be different activities than what happened at Senior Sunrise, so it will be a new last experience for the seniors.

Senior Sunset is meant to be a way for students to get together and is normally held at the end of the year as a way for students to conclude their senior year with a last evening of fun and community. It’s also used as a way to encourage seniors to get through graduation, since it’s the last push of their high school careers.

“I’m going to Senior Sunset as an informal goodbye to my senior year as graduation will be the real goodbye,” said senior Cameron Pollard.
