Fuquay-Varina High School’s Spanish Honor Society is excited to work with The Pulsera Project. This project helps support artisans and communities in Central America.

The Pulsera Project is a fair trade, non-profit organization that works with artists in Central America and connects them with students in the United States. To support the The Pulsera Project, SHS will be selling the pulseras (bracelets) at school during A and B lunches in the cafeteria April 15 – 26, 2024.

Each pulsera costs $5. All bracelets are handwoven and have vibrant colors. Each bracelet is unique and has its artist’s picture and signature on it.

“It’s an important project because it helps support smaller businesses and people who are trying to do what they’re passionate about, “ said senior and member of SHS Jordan Jones.

The money raised by the school is given back to Central American communities to help the communities and artists. The project works side by side with the leaders of the community to find the best way to invest the money to empower their people. The money raised will help with funding programs such as housing, healthcare, scholarships, and social enterprises.

The Pulsera Project employs many artists in Central America with fair trade jobs. This helps the region’s low employment rate and harsh working conditions by helping more people have well-paying jobs.

The project also provides students with cool cultural education experiences by allowing students to have Latin American beauty and culture in the school’s classrooms and hallways.

You can also send a PulseraGram to a teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week. These will be delivered to teachers May 6 – 10, 2024.

Buying bracelets isn’t the only way you can get involved. You can also donate to the program through PayPal on The Pulsera Project website.
