As we enter the fall season, temperatures begin to drop, the holidays approach, and seasonal events all around begin to take place.
In the area, there are various events to celebrate, such as haunted trails, pumpkin patches, trick-or-treating, and corn mazes. Some of these events include the Haunted Trail for families, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, 5-6 p.m., in Fuquay-Varina. A “full fright” version of this haunted trail will be on the same day from 7-9 p.m.
In addition to this, there will also be ghost tours around Downtown Fuquay. These tours will tell the story of potentially haunted places throughout town. There are six open dates with various time slots throughout the month of October.
Other fall activities in Fuquay-Varina are corn mazes and pumpkin patches. The Naylor Family Farm and Corn Maze offers a 7-acre corn maze and a plethora of pumpkins to choose from in their patch. They are also offering a hayride through the woods with creepy features.
Leaving town, there are exciting fall events in Holly Springs, Raleigh, and Garner.
The Family Farm on Avent Ferry in Holly Springs has many unique pumpkins to choose from. Ken’s Korny Corn Maze in Garner, you guessed it, offers a large corn maze, as well as other activities such as games like tug-of-war, ball throwing, slides, and more. It is currently open as of Sept. 23 and is open through Nov. 6. In Raleigh, the North Carolina State Fair kicks off on Oct. 12 and will continue through Oct. 22. The fair offers lots of options when it comes to food, rides and attractions.
There are many different ways to enjoy fall and all it has to offer.
Sophomore Addison Smith stated, “I love hayrides during the fall season. Especially during the night with a group of friends. I would love to see a Fuquay hayride.”
Sweet treats also add to the appeal and encourage attendance to activities for fall.
“I really enjoy going to the NC State Fair too, I always get the delicious caramel apples,” said Smith.
Other potential events that people are interested in are fall-themed shops.
Smith stated she wanted to see “different pop-up fall stores to wander around through downtown.”
There are many activities to celebrate fall, including some frightening ones.
Sophomore Anna Lord stated, “I love going to haunted trails with friends.”
Events like these give people a chance to spend time with their friends and family.
“It’s funny because I get scared easily but doing it with my friends always makes it a fun experience to look forward to during fall,” said Lord.
