The mens varsity basketball team started the season strong with back-to-back wins on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19, showing teamwork, effort and determination on the court.
On Tuesday, Nov. 18, the team faced Apex at home in a non-conference matchup. The game was close from start to finish, with both teams playing hard on offense and defense. In the final minutes, the varsity team stayed calm and made key plays to secure a 68–65 win. The crowd was loud and supportive as the team fought until the final buzzer
“We won because of our confidence. Your next move matters more than your last mistake,” said junior CJ Biney.
The next day, Wednesday, Nov. 19, the team went to Holly Springs for another non-conference game. The varsity team came out strong and controlled the game early. Solid defense and fast scoring helped build a lead that continued to grow throughout the game. The team earned a convincing 79–58 win, completing the back-to-back victory.
Players stepped up on both ends of the court, sharing the ball, communicating on defense, and showing great energy. The strong performance proved the team could handle pressure and stay focused, even on consecutive game days
“Winning back-to-back games gave us the motivation we needed to succeed, especially after our win against Apex,” said senior Corbin Peacock.
These two wins gave the team momentum early in the season and showed what they are capable of when they work together. With a record boost and confidence growing, the varsity basketball team looks ready to keep competing and improving as the season continues with their next game being an away game on Jan. 13 against South Garner.
