Money and happiness has been a long debated topic. While some may argue money can’t buy happiness, many will say it does. Money can contribute to leading a long, happy life. 

Imagine winning a $1,000 gift card which allowed one to buy or do anything. What would be the general reaction? The first thing that would come to mind is to spend it on anything that brings that person joy. 

Money allows access to many opportunities such as traveling, participating in activities, and achieving your goals. Education wise, it opens doors for quality academics which can advance into dream careers, investing in personal enrichment.

Sophomore Kylie McGrogan said, “If I had the money right now, I’d probably be traveling the world with friends and living the life of my dreams. Everything in this world requires money, it can definitely bring many people happiness.” 

Financial stability is achieved with money. Families who financially struggle are most likely unhappy due to the daily stress of payments while managing their basic necessities. Money provides that sense of security, taking away the worry of making ends meet.

There are many families around the world who don’t come from much. As their children grow up, parents have to not only pay for themselves and their kids’ needs but for their wants as well. This can cause pressure and strain amongst them which can negatively impact their own mental health along with the relationships within the members of the family.

Financial resources can help afford healthcare. Going for checkups or any emergency appointments regarding your health is expensive nowadays. Without money, you’re not able to  access good healthcare, leaving people at risk of not having proper treatment. 

Happiness comes in different forms; money is a tool to enhance those aspects.  It gives them more choices and opportunities that they may not have without it. Money can hugely contribute to an individual’s happiness as long as there is a proper balance with it and is used for good purposes.
