For a lot of high schoolers, birthdays aren’t just about getting a year older; they’re also about enjoying the perks that come with it. Many students’ favorite restaurants and stores are creating rewards programs allowing customers to attain discounts, gift cards, and of course, the fan favorite: birthday freebies. Companies use this as a marketing strategy, but it also gives students a bonus to look out for on their special day.
“I just think that birthday freebies are fun to look forward to,” said freshman Mary Travers.
If you know where to look, your birthday can come with a lot of free stuff. This list includes a variety of student favorites, ranging from chocolatey lava cakes to the most viral makeup products. Here are the top ten popular birthday freebies students recommend.
First on the list is Chili’s, which offers a free dessert (often a lava cake) to members who are part of their My Chili’s Rewards. It can be redeemed either one week before, on the day of, or the week after.
“I got this really good lava cake with ice cream,” said freshman Lexa Acheampong.
Another popular birthday freebie is Starbucks. Rewards members can get a free handcrafted beverage, food item, or bottled beverage. The reward is only valid on your birthday.
Students can also find freebies at fast food restaurants and snack spots. After signing up for the Bojangles E- Club, Bojangles offers a free biscuit with any purchase, along with a coupon for a free half-gallon of iced tea. In addition, Jersey Mikes offers a free sub and a 16oz drink to MyMikes Rewards members.
If you’re up for a sweet treat, Auntie Anne’s offers a free birthday pretzel if you’re signed up for their Pretzel Perks Rewards. You can also join the Krispy Kreme Rewards program and add your birthday to the account so you can enjoy a 3-count original glazed doughnut. Crumbl Cookies celebrates birthdays with a cookie. After joining Crumbl Rewards at least 48 hours in advance, you can pick up your free cookie using the voucher they send you. Another option students mentioned was Culver’s. Members signed up for MyCulver’s rewards can receive a free sundae on their birthday.
Last but not least, to all the people who enjoy beauty and skin products Sephora and Ulta may be the right choice for you, being part of Sephora’s Beauty Insider program lets members get a free birthday gift from Sephora in their birthday month. Gift options often include makeup, skincare, or haircare products.
“I went to Sephora for my birthday, and I got a free lip kit. I was really happy,” said freshman Jocelyn Nandha.
Similarly, Ulta Beauty treats Ultamate Rewards members to a gift (usually makeup) on their birthday. You are able to receive it in-store or after an online purchase.
Many FVHS students think that these birthday freebies are worth it.
“Yes, [it’s worth it] because if you sign up for it, which is most of the time free, then you can just get a bunch of free stuff,” said senior Jackie Knight.
This is your sign to check out these birthday freebies and sign up for these rewards before your special day.
