Your favorite artist announces a new tour and you immediately go to a site to purchase the tickets, only to get majorly disappointed when seeing the outstandingly expensive ticket prices. In 2025, the FTC and several different states sued Ticketmaster and Live Nation for illegal ticket resale in order to profit twice and also accused them of hiding the mandatory fees. This is crucial because it could result in cheaper ticket prices. Unfortunately, current regular ticket prices are very expensive for the more popular artists, and there are many reasons as to why, including the faults of ticket sites.
One reason is the demand for concerts and the limited supply that comes along with it. When an artist and management team are deciding how to price the tickets, they take into account the demand, production cost, and the size of the venue they will be performing in.
Junior Valentina Valverde said, “I think concert tickets are worth so much because popular artists know their fans would pay a large sum of money just to see them perform. If it’s an artist I really enjoy, then I do believe paying a large amount of money is worth the experience.”
A stadium can only hold so many people, and millions of people might want to see a certain concert with a popular artist. In combination with the chosen lights, venue, and dancers involved in the production of these concerts, this results in the subsequent increase in ticket prices. When all of these factors are taken into account, many people believe that concerts are worth the money because of the unique experience.
Senior Kylie McGrogan, who recently went to the Bruno Mars concert, said, “Concerts are special because they turn music into a real experience. Hearing your favorite songs live, feeling the energy of the crowd and making memories with people around you has no limit of money. The expenses are something you can gain back, but you can’t gain back the memories.”
These listed reasons are why concert ticket prices are getting unreasonably high, but many view the price as being worth it for the experience and the costs involved to create the performance.
