The Fuquay-Varina museums, located at Ashworth Park, are hosting an annual heritage museum day on May 2, 2026. It’s going to be held at 131 S. Fuquay Avenue, Fuquay Varina. The event is from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The heritage museum is going to feature tours, special programs and deeper understandings of local history.

The event brings the town together and also brings others to our town to learn about it. It also promotes diversity among the town and shows important parts of the town’s history.

The tours are meant to show guests about the agricultural and mercantile history of the area. They are also meant to give people a look at how some of their ancestors lived. There will be tour guides that will help lead people through the visit and help them better understand what they are looking at.

At the museum, there are many things to see and learn about such as a schoolhouse, jail, tobacco barn and more.

Some of the places being celebrated include the American Legion Post 116, the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department, the Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club and FVHS. These places were all founded over 50 years ago and are a part of the history of Fuquay-Varina.

The heritage of the town is important in bringing people closer to their history and the people that came before them. By learning about the past, people build a stronger community.

Freshman Morgan Alexander said, “Heritage museums get kids more involved in their heritage.”

Events like these help to inform younger generations of the town and it helps them learn a lot about how far the town has come. Even for older generations, the event is important. It reminds them of how they grew up and how we still celebrate their heritage.

Alexander said, “They help you learn about your people’s past and who you connect to.”

The town holds this event every year so that everyone can remember what the town began with and how far it has evolved.
