FVHS is organizing two important events to help students and families learn more about the school and its academic programs. Open house is scheduled for Feb. 12 and the curriculum fair will take place on Feb. 18. These events are designed to support students, parents and guardians by providing clear information about the school environment and course options.
Open house on Feb. 12 gives families the opportunity to visit the campus and become familiar with the school. Parents and students can walk through the classrooms, hallways and shared spaces to better understand daily life at FVHS. Teachers are available to introduce themselves and explain classroom expectations, grading policies and learning goals. This event helps families feel more comfortable and be connected to the school.
Sophomore Diya Krishnan Karthikeyan said, “Events such as the open house are important because it helps students connect with their teachers and peers. It’s an opportunity for them to meet outside of school and bond better.”
Open house can be helpful for new students and families who may be unfamiliar with the campus. Exploring the campus in person can answer many common questions. School staff members are present to guide families and provide helpful information throughout the event.
Sophomore Sonal Rava said, “Hosting families for school tours is a valuable opportunity for them to learn about our school’s offerings and consider how it aligns with their future goals for their children. This event also provides a chance to meet the teachers and gain insight into their teaching philosophies and expectations for students.”
The curriculum fair on Feb. 18 focuses on academic planning and future goals. During this event, students and parents can learn about the wide range of courses offered at FVHS. Teachers from departments such as English, math, social studies, science and electives can explain what students can expect in particular classes. Honors courses, advanced classes and special programs are also introduced.
Karthikeyan said, “The curriculum fair is an opportunity for students to learn about what clubs are happening at their school. This way students are more informed and involved in the academic activities going on in school.”
Guidance counselors attend the curriculum fair to help students understand the graduation requirements and course pathways. They explain how class choices can support college plans and career interests. Parents are encouraged to ask questions so they can help students make informed decisions. These conversations help students feel more confident about their academic choices.
Together, open house and curriculum fair show FVHS commitment to student success and family involvement. By hosting these events on separate days, the school allows families to focus on each experience fully. These events strengthen communication between the school and the community while preparing students for the successful academic future.
