Students and families will have a chance to enjoy a fun evening outdoors as FCCLA hosts a special event called Bengals Under the Stars. The movie night will take place on May 8 in the school courtyard from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The featured movie for the night is “Zootopia 2,” and the tickets are priced at $5 per person, making the night affordable for most students. There is also a group deal, where four or more people can attend for $20. Children under the age of two can enter for free, which makes it easier for families with younger kids to join.
“Students should attend movie night because it gets them out of the house. It’s going to be a safe place for them, and it brings them back to being like a kid,” said Kelly Elliott, the advisor of FCCLA.
In addition to the movie, concessions will be available for purchase during the event. Snacks and drinks will give the attendees a full movie night experience without needing to leave the courtyard. Local business Fat Cat Homemade Ice Cream is also featured on the event flyer, giving the attendees another reason to be excited.
Students are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit comfortably during the movie. Since the event is being held outdoors, dressing casually and comfortably is also recommended.
“I think it would be really cool and acts as a stress reliever from AP exams,” said junior Joshita Mani Vadaparthi.
Events like this are important because they help build school spirit and give students a break from their usual routine. Instead of focusing only on academics, activities like movie nights allow students to connect with each other in a more casual setting.
The movie night shows how clubs contribute to school culture by creating opportunities for involvement outside the classroom. Even smaller events can make a difference in helping students feel more connected to their school community.
“Just to have the students come out, the community come out, and watch a movie under the stars. It’s important to have activities that bring students together in a simple way,” said Elliott.
