Volleybro’s popularity is a game-changer for FVHS

The energy at Fuquay-Varina High School was absolutely insane on April 23 when the annual Volleybros tournament took over the gym. This event has quickly become one of the most popular traditions at FVHS, bringing everyone together for a night of school spirit. It is always fun to watch the teams compete.

A massive shoutout goes to our dedicated Student Council members who helped this event happen. They worked behind the scenes to organize the entire bracket, handle player sign-ups, and make sure the games stayed on schedule. Without the Student Council, an event this big would definitely be a mess. They managed the equipment and the crowd, making sure everything ran smoothly so the players could focus on the game. Their leadership is what makes these nights possible.

Junior Tiffany Nguyen, a member of Student Council, mentioned that setting up the event is a lot of fun.

“This is so exciting, I really wish there was a men’s team here because I would love to watch them play,” said Nguyen.

The impact of Volleybros is clear. Seeing how many guys showed up to play proves that there is a real demand for a mens volleyball team here at FVHS. If we can fill a gym for a tournament like this, imagine the support a full season would get.

The event’s massive popularity is exactly why some students are pushing for an official men’s volleyball team at FVHS. When you see the stands packed and people actually getting hyped for every serve, it proves this isn’t just a one-time thing. The huge turnout shows the athletic department that there is real passion for this sport.

After many rounds, the Bengal Smashers emerged from the bracket as the official winners; they all won Chick-Fil-A gift cards. Congratulations to the Smashers and everyone who came out to support the players. Hopefully, this leads to a mens volleyball team at our school soon.
