FVHS stunt determination grows as the season progresses, as currently the team is 0-4.
Sophomore Lexi Lassister tumbles for the stunt team and is a main base.
“The biggest challenge this season is overcoming injuries. When someone gets injured, they are not out for a week but more like a whole season,” said Lassister. “Even though we haven’t won a game yet, I think we just have to keep being positive.”
Although FVHS stunt hasn’t had the best season so far on paper, every day the stunt team practices to improve. They don’t give up; they use setbacks as motivation to stunt harder.
Sophomore Luci Navarro is also a main base and a tumbler for the team.
“If I were to describe our season in one word it would be overcoming. We have had a lot of injuries and constant changes. Everyone has been adaptive in overcoming our challenges,” said Navarro.
Navarro proves even more that the FVHS stunt team doesn’t quit when games or practices get hard. They instead look on the positive side and move forward. The types of attitudes that are present in the stunt team are the attitudes any team needs when going into competitions or games.
The stunt team pushes hard on practice days.
“A typical practice starts with us running on the track and then doing a warmup. After that, we begin with partner stunts, move onto pyramid work and tosses, then we start going over our jump and tumble routines. We also practice quarter four which is where we put all the stunts together,” said Navarro.
The stunt team is a great example of not quitting when times get rough. They show everyone else what positivity can do in a season. They have two upcoming games, Wed., April 16, and Wed., April 22. Go out and show your support for our Bengal stunt team.
