Football: It’s America’s favorite pastime. You can find tens of millions of Americans across the country tuning in to watch their favorite team win, and make their week, or lose and crush their spirits. It’s a tale as old as time, and week seven of the NFL just wrapped up on October 20, so let’s go over everything that happened.
On Oct 16. 2025, Thursday Night Football (TNF) featured the Pittsburgh Steelers versus the Cincinnati Bengals. It was a long and hard fought game, some may say the best game this year, as it had the Bengals pull away with the win 33-31. 41-year-old 20-year league veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers led the Steelers with 249 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and two costly interceptions on 23/34 completions. Steelers running back Jaylen Warren led the team in rushing with 127 rushing yards on 16 carries with zero touchdowns, while Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth had five receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side, the Cincinnati Bengals, led by newly acquired 17-year league veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, demolished the Steelers’ secondary with 342 passing yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions on 31/47 completions. The Bengals’ running game was led by Chase Brown, who had 108 rushing yards on 11 carries with no touchdowns. The passing attack led by wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins flourished, with the two combining for 22 receptions, two touchdowns and 257 receiving yards.
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars faced off on an international stage in London with the Rams, led by 2009 first overall pick quarterback Matthew Stafford. The Rams ended up winning 35-7 with Stafford having just under 200 passing yards and 5 passing touchdowns, three of which went to legendary 32 year-old veteran wide receiver Davante Adams.
For the Jaguars, 2025’s second overall pick Travis Hunter, known for his ability to play positions on both offense and defense, was the only bright spot with Hunter having a career game, with eight receptions, one touchdown and 101 receiving yards.
The Denver Broncos versus the New York Giants game stood out as arguably the best game of the year as second year Broncos quarterback Bo Nix led the team to a 33-32 win after trailing 26-8 with six minutes left in the fourth quarter. NFL teams have consecutively won 1,602 games when leading by at least 18 points with six minutes left in the fourth quarter. This snapped the streak, with the most recent game of this kind of comeback was in 2003 when the Indianapolis Colts faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Week seven capped off with Monday Night Football (MNF) with a double header matchup with the Seattle Seahawks versus the Houston Texans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers versus the Detroit Lions. The Detroit Lions blew out the badly injured Bucs team, with superstar wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out and rookie sensation Emeka Egbuka playing through a hamstring injury. The Lions led the way with 2016 first overall pick Jared Goff throwing for 20-29 completions, 241 passing yards, and one touchdown with one interception. The Seattle Seahawks pulled off a relatively close 27-19 win over the Houston Texans, with-up-and-coming superstar Jaxon Smith-Njigba leading the Seahawks in all receiving stats with eight receptions, 123 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The highest stat totals for this week go to Ja’Marr Chase with both receptions (16) and receiving yards (161), Davante Adams with receiving touchdowns (3), Joe Flacco with passing yards (342), Baker Mayfield with pass attempts (45), Matthew Stafford with passing touchdowns (5), Tua Tagovailoa and Spencer Rattler tying for interceptions (3), Quinshon Judkins with carries (25), Jaylen Warren with rushing yards (127) and Jonathan Taylor and Quinshon Judkins tying for rushing touchdowns (3).
Tune in this week for important week eight matchups like the Denver Broncos versus the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers versus the Houston Texans.
