With only one game left in the season, the FVHS softball team celebrated senior night on April, 24. The team has worked hard this season, and they’re finishing with an overall record of 12-6 and fourth place in conference. They have had a lot of amazing games this year that created a lot of memories for the seniors of the team.
“My favorite memory is beating Willow my senior year,” said senior Alyssa Taylor.
The seniors were honored for dedicating so much hard work and effort to the team by always showing up and making sure to give it their all every single day.
“My favorite memory was probably my freshman year when we beat Purnell Swett and went to the fourth round of playoffs,” said senior Ayala Durant.
Senior night is a very bittersweet occasion for everyone. Some can feel emotional because they are saying goodbye to such a meaningful chapter in their lives, while players like Durant see it as more of a celebration for her achievements.
“I didn’t really see senior night as a sad night; it made me feel special,” said Durant.
Durant has been playing softball for the school since her freshman year, so she has made bonds and memories with a lot of her teammates. She would like for people that want to be on the team to know that they should always give 110% even when you don’t feel like it, and you’re not 100% sure about things.
Taylor is another one of the seniors who has been playing since her freshman year. She wants younger people who want to make the team to know that they should enjoy every moment, so when it’s over, they have no regrets. She would also like to thank her coaches and teammates for always supporting her and making every practice and game enjoyable.
As we wish our seniors and the entire team good luck for their last three games, if you want to come out and support them, the next game is away against Willow Spring High School at 4:30 p.m. on May 2.
