For many high schoolers, the lockscreen on their phone is more than just a background image. It’s a subtle reflection of their personality, their interests or their values.
Although it may seem insignificant, there’s a lot people can tell about you based off of the lockscreen on your phone. Is it your family? Friends? Maybe it’s a picture of you doing something you love. Regardless, the way you choose to personalize your phone reflects your mood, values or your identity.
Some lockscreens are deeply personal, like a picture of a favorite memory. Others may choose to personalize their phones with their favorite sports teams, a show they like or even their favorite musicians
“My lockscreen is my girlfriend and me at prom. It shows people that I pull fine girls,” said junior Dylan Hayes.

Hayes, along with others, takes the opportunity to have their significant other as their lockscreens. For many, having their significant other as their lockscreen is a way to feel connected to that person, especially during the stress and routine of school days.
“My lockscreen is a picture of me catching a 7-foot shark in Miami,” said sophomore Adam Stransky.
Lock screens show who a person really is, reflecting their true personalities and likes.
Stransky said, “Yeah, cause I love fishing, like if you look at me, I look like a fisherman.”
People like Stransky might choose to put a picture of themselves, or even a fun memory, as their lockscreen. In Stransky’s case, it’s a bold image that captures a defining part of his identity, something that he wants people to immediately associate with him.
In the end, a lockscreen might just seem like a random background chosen with no meaning, but for many, it’s a quiet form of self-expression that tells its own story.
Whether it’s a personal photo, a proud memory or a beautiful landscape, it offers a brief yet personal look into their interests, values or personality.
