The 2024 Met Gala made its annual return on the first Monday of May with the theme Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion. With Anna Wintour, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, and Zendaya as co-chairs for the Spring 2024 Costume Institute Benefit, Wintour has made over $223M for the costume institute with this event. This year’s Met Gala revealed just how well these celebrities can clean up.
Starting off strong, Zendaya’s outfit created lots of noise this year. Styled in Givenchy Spring 1996 couture, a stunning black dress with an Alexander McQueen spring/summer 2007 headpiece by Philip Treacy, Bulgari jewelry, and Christian Louboutin heels. Her makeup makes a statement with her bleached eyebrows, sharping neutral but bold eye look, and a minimal nude lip combination.
Her second outfit for the evening theme, Garden of Time, was equally breathtaking styled in Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela heels and again, Bulgari jewelry. She wore a green fishnet headpiece paired with her blue and green striped dress. Her makeup is much bolder than her earlier evening look, a maroon eye-look paired with burgundy lips.
Another one of this year’s Met Gala’s co-chairs, Bad Bunny, was also styled head to toe in In Maison Margiela. He wore Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela shoes. The Puerto-Rican artist showed up to the red carpet with a bouquet in hand, including flor de maga; Puerto Rico’s national flower. His makeup was done using none other than Pat McGrath, kept very minimal and natural. His makeup artist did a phenomenal job perfecting the dewy no-makeup look.
Dua Lipa’s two-piece was definitely one of my favorites. Styled in Marc Jacobs with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, the singer wore a lace wrapped skirt made up of different patterns paired with a white corset as a top. The V-Neck lowcut lacy cover over it pulls the two pieces together, as well as the cape of feathers on her shoulder. Tiffany & Co. jewelry is paired beautifully around her waist in beads and a stunning pendent necklace.
A substantial amount of my favorite looks actually came from Loewe, including celebrities such as Ayo Edebiri, Taylor Russell, Greta Lee, Ambika Mod, Josh O’Connor, Mike Faist. As each of them showed up on the red carpet, the looks left me impressed and shocked every time while also following the theme, which everybody loves to see.
Another beautiful look was Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ moment. She was styled in Oscar de la Renta with Bucherer Fine Jewellery. Her strapless black bodycon dress ends with a bubbly blue train following her trail as she stuns on the red carpet. Her frosty blue eyeshadow look complements her theme of the night perfectly along with he bedazzled manicure. Carpenter will always be the go-to girl for hair and makeup inspiration.
This year’s Met Gala was one for the books with the appearances on the red carpet. The 2024 designers truly outdid themselves, leaving everyone in anticipation for the first Monday of May next year.
