On Saturday, Oct. 11, Fuquay-Varina High School’s 50th annual Homecoming dance took place. This dance’s theme was the Golden Gala and included a DJ, karaoke and refreshments.
Senior Iasonas Stratis shared that he really liked the theme and snacks as well as the decorations despite the fact that people kept yanking them down.
“I think it was way better than prom last year,” Stratis said. “The DJ was good, everything was good. I think almost everyone had a really good time.”
Freshman Emery Spradman said, “[Homecoming] was really fun. It was good vibes only. There was no fighting, and it was overall just an amazing experience.”
She went on to say, “The decorations were actually so cute, and the theme was amazing too.” The dance’s decorations included gold balloons, gold streamers over the doors, balloon arches and backdrops for photo ops.
Sophomore Maggie Zarian was also a big fan of the dance’s theming.
“The decorations by the Student Council were really good and made it a lot more fun,” she said. Zarian also found it a lot easier to find attire that matched the black and gold color scheme of the dance.
Sophomore Ana Rivera greatly enjoyed the music.
“I think the music they had was fire because it all came from different genres.” Rivera said. Some of the music played included “Cotton Eyed Joe,” “Cupid Shuffle” and “Cha Cha Slide.”
The snacks, especially the punch and cookies, were highly appreciated by the students. The DJ and karaoke opportunity were also very popular with students.
Overall, the Golden Gala was very well received among students. Most people seemed to enjoy the music, dj and snacks. After the Golden Gala, it’s safe to say that students are looking forward to next year’s Homecoming dance.
