Junior varsity soccer has made a solid performance this season with a record of 5-2 in conference, winning their first five conference games against Smithfield-Selma, Clayton, Southeast Raleigh, Cleveland and South Garner, before losing two games against Garner and Clayton,
“We were doing good conference-wise but losing always really hurts,” said sophomore Ben Foote. “Hopefully we can learn from that loss and keep going up from there.”
The other games in their conference are Cleveland on Oct. 15, South Garner on Oct. 27, and Garner on Oct. 29. JV soccer has lots of time to improve their team chemistry and skill with many games to show how hard they have been working.
“I know we have a good amount of games left but I think we can still keep a solid record in conference,” said sophomore Oliver Willis. “The loss really was unfortunate when we were doing so good. It was a pretty rough game. I think we can come back from that though.”
Although players express that the loss threw them off, the team also said that they are looking to the future and working towards becoming a better team.
Aside from the losses against Garner and Clayton, JV soccer’s five wins are impressive, bringing joy to the team.
“We looked great out there, moving as a team playing efficient defense and scoring goals. It feels great,” said Foote.
The JV soccer team has a promising conference record and a positive outlook on the future. Their next game is on Oct. 15. against Cleveland at home.
