It is extremely well known that the weekend is only two days long, but some students believe that it should be three. A reason why is because people are always tired on Mondays and seem like they don’t have enough rest from Saturday and Sunday to be ready for the week.
Whenever there is a long weekend, students are happy and take good advantage of the three days. A three-day weekend has many benefits, such as being given enough time to relax and rejuvenate from the long week of work. Due to students knowing they have more time to rejuvenate, they stay up later and sometimes just one day isn’t enough to recover from that.
When the break is over and we return to our normal schedules, Sunday starts to become stressful. Two-day weekends can be very harmful for one’s mental health. The imbalance between work and life is not manageable, and a longer weekend would be the best solution to that issue.
Adding one more day to the weekend would also give students more time to study on a test or quiz they could be taking the next week. Saturday is usually when a student can take a free day and relax. This makes Sunday a stressful time of the week because they need to study, do homework and anything else they didn’t finish the week before. Making Monday part of the weekend would give them an opportunity to get their work done Sunday and still have another day to relax before school starts up again.
Students are often exhausted and take after school naps. In doing this, they often waste time they could be doing their homework or other after school activities. If they were given an extra day of rest, this would be less of a problem. Another issue is students sleeping during class, which usually happens on Monday. Teenagers often find it hard to get up so early and be ready for the day. If they didn’t have school on Mondays, they’d be more likely to be well rested and ready to work on whatever they need to be working on.
