Everyone’s excited to dress up for Homecoming, but there are four more dress-up days to come next week! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Oct. 14, when Spirit Week will take place at Fuquay-Varina High School.
The Student Council has come up with some amazing themes to show school spirit. Since we have Monday off for Columbus day, there’s more time to create fun and creative outfits for the upcoming days.
Tuesday is Adam Sandler day. You can wear jorts, baggy basketball shorts and any baggy top. Adam Sandler is very famous so if you need inspiration you can watch movies he’s in or look at his paparazzi pictures.
Wednesday is pink out. Wear all of the pink you can find. Have pink socks? Wear them. Have pink jeans? Wear those as well! Keep in mind that the theme was chosen to raise awareness for breast cancer and to show support, so it’ll be greatly appreciated if you wear pink.
Skipping over Thursday and going to Friday, the theme will be Bengal out. To fit this theme you should wear our school colors: black, orange and white. If you have any merch from the school, then Friday would be a good time to wear it. Also on Friday, seniors will be wearing decorated Burger King crowns.
Going back to Thursday, Oct. 16, the theme will be white lies. This is a fun theme to do, but it’s not so fun if it’s not school appropriate. The name “white lies” comes from the fact that you wear a white t-shirt and write a lie about yourself on the shirt. If you can’t come up with anything, I can help.
To start, you can take your physical features like hair, height and eye color, and incorporate it into a lie. For example if you’re 5’4 you could write ‘I’m 6 ft tall.’ Another example would be if you’ve dyed your hair blonde writing ‘I’m a natural blonde.’
If these are too simple for you, don’t worry, there are plenty of other ideas. Not everything has to be about physical appearance. You can also take habits or traits into consideration. For example, writing ‘I save my money’ if you’re a shop-aholic. Another one that’s not appearance related would be ‘I’ll get it done tomorrow’ if people know that you’re a procrastinator.
Personality traits are also a big helper in this theme too. If you’re dramatic, shy, extremely extroverted, or anything else then you can make a good shirt. ‘I’m never dramatic,’ is a good one for people who are very dramatic. Also ‘I love talking to people’ would be a great one for shy people. Lastly, ‘I don’t have fomo’ is good for the people who hate missing out on things.
With all of this being said, it’s important to be cautious of what you write on your shirt. Remember that everything you write must be school appropriate. If you wouldn’t want your grandparents to read it, then maybe don’t write it.
I hope this white lie guide has helped you dive deeper into the theme and given you ideas. If you’re still stuck, Pinterest and Google are helpful places to look for inspiration. I hope everybody has fun participating in Spirit Week.
