At FVHS, sports are a big part of student life. While many people cheer for the football team on game days, not everyone sees the hard work happening on the sidelines.
The student sports trainers have a very important role in helping the teams stay safe and healthy so they’re ready to play.
These trainers do many things before, during and after games. They help set up the field, bring out water bottles and are ready to help if someone gets hurt. They work closely with the school’s athletic trainer and learn how to take care of injuries.
“We usually will pass around water bottles for the football team and tend to injuries,” said sophomore Alexis Allisiter, a student trainer at the school.
Being a student trainer is a big responsibility. It can be hard work, but many students enjoy helping out and being part of the team in a different but effective way.
It’s also a good way to learn more about sports medicine and helping others. Even though they aren’t on the field.
“I know we’re not on the field playing, but I love to help in the ways I can,” said Allisiter.
The student trainers are a very important part of the team. Without them, games would be a lot harder for the athletes. Without the water delivered by sports trainers, players would be dehydrated, tired and likely be prone to injury. Without the sports trainers, FVHS sports wouldn’t be where they are today.
