The FVHS Homecoming court for the 2025 school year was just announced on Sept. 24. Students have elected 18 of their classmates in a celebration of school spirit and community. The students will be representing their grades at the Homecoming game which will take place on Oct. 17 along with school spirit week right before it.
Many of the members of the Homecoming court are very excited to be a part of the tradition and are looking forward to the events that will take place.
Senior court member Taylor Edwards said, “I’m very excited. I’m looking forward to walking on the field with my mom at the football game. I am also excited for the pep rally and to get everyone hyped for Homecoming.”
Edwards’ excitement shows the sentiments of our Homecoming court as well as how surprised and excited they are to be a part of such a large school event. Edwards represents how eager the seniors are to be involved in the school during their last year at FVHS.
Another senior court member, Nyla Robinson-Partridge said, “I’m definitely excited. It’s a good experience to have your senior year and something that I really am looking forward to as well. I’m most excited about campaigning, not for popularity but for people to know who I am. I think I do have a good rep to my name, and I think that is something people should know.”
Robinson-Partridge highlights the anticipation for the more social aspects of Homecoming. Campaigning gives the court a chance to get their name around and rally support for the chance to be crowned at the game. The crowning is seen as a very special moment that the seniors hope to experience in their last year at FVHS.
The seniors aren’t the only ones looking forward to this opportunity though. The underclassmen are just as excited to participate in their first Homecoming.
Underclassmen court member, freshman Tatum Bierman said, “I was really surprised, especially because I am just a freshman. I honestly didn’t know many people coming into Fuquay, but I was super excited when I did get it. I am really looking forward to representing the freshman class, and I think it’s a great opportunity and I’m super grateful.”
Bierman’s anticipation for her role in the Homecoming game is shared by her fellow underclassmen court members. Other underclassmen also expressed excitement for the opportunity to establish themselves within the school and represent their classes. Other court members are excited for the opportunity to have this experience with people they are close with.
Senior court member Sally McGahey said, “I was extremely surprised, and I’m very excited. I’m looking forward to having a lot of friends and my boyfriend on the court. I think it will be a fun time. I think it will be a cool thing to do as a senior.”
Homecoming is one of the biggest social events of the year with many students looking forward to celebrating with their friends and families. The court has been picked but the members are not done campaigning yet. The crowning for Homecoming king and queen has yet to take place and every vote matters. Voting is the chance to select who students believe represents the values of the Bengal community at FVHS. The ballots will open sometime in the next week so make sure you get your vote accounted for.
The winners will be crowned at halftime of the Homecoming game on Oct. 18.
