FVHS has many different classes and clubs including and introducing students to the arts. There are various artists, actors, dancers and musicians among our students at this school. Art can be important to students as a way to express themselves and find a community similar to them.
Arts Support the Arts information was provided on the FVHS Instagram providing dates and times for upcoming art events. Arts Support the Arts is a way for students to support each other and get to see pieces of artists’ work or experience doing some of their own.
Art Club started Sept. 25 from 2:30-3:30 p.m and meets weekly on Thursdays. Oct. 29 the Musicians Club and the Craft Club were held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Musicians Club meets on Monday while the Craft Club is on the first Wednesday of each month. Drama Club will take place Oct. 7 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. On Oct. 14 from 2:30-4 p.m. the dance team will hold a dance class. The FVHS choral concert will take place Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The FVHS band concert will be held Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
“We’re playing super cool music and it sounds amazing,” said freshman trombone player Zoey Wewer.
Arts Support the Arts is not the only thing happening for artists this month. For visual artists a popular trend called Inktober, happens during the month of October. While applying mainly to visual or digital artists, it is available for anyone to do.
“It’s a good way to draw things you’re not normally going to draw,” said junior Audrey Ehresman. Ehresman said she’s done Inktober for about two years but mainly committed last year.
Inktober is a one month challenge where artists push themselves to create a different art piece or drawing everyday of the month in October. People can find many prompts and lists online of things to draw for the whole month. It is recommended for artists who want to improve their art and consistency with drawing while still being able to have fun.
Arts Support Arts is an opportunity to meet and support other artists at FVHS. You can find inspiration from other students around you and even get the chance to do challenges like Inktober in Art Club.
