“KPop Demon Hunters,” a 2025 Sony movie that has broken several records, is obviously extremely popular. For a movie with no trailers doing as well as it has been is shocking, so a few FVHS students talked about why they love this movie so much.

Sophomore Astro Brown shared that he thinks the movie was extremely good.

“I think the plot is really good and it’s really understandable,” Brown said. “Both adults and kids can like it.”

He also shared that it’s likely that its popularity is largely due to the fact that KPop music is trending and people enjoy the movie’s music. He said what he thought made the movie so successful compared to other movies was Sussie, a crow primarily used as comic relief.

Meanwhile, sophomore Anne Mckee, who has seen the movie twice, shared that she appreciated how the characters’ struggles, specifically Rumi’s, were portrayed.

“I like how they developed their insecurities and issues to be a good part of themselves,” Mckee said.

When asked why she thinks the movie did so well, she cited the music as the main reason. The movie’s music has had extreme success, even having more streams than actual KPop groups. It draws heavy inspiration from groups like TWICE. In fact, during a scene, you can even see TWICE mentioned.

“KPop Demon Hunters” shocked everyone with the level of fame this movie achieved. However, these students’ responses help us see why it’s so widely popular and how the characters and music enthralled the audience.
