Last year was challenging for the Fuquay Varina women’s tennis team as they finished their season with an overall record of 6-11. There were many bright spots in last season though as they finished conference play with a more favorable record of 6-8.
This year the team seems to have turned a massive corner and is looking forward to playing another season.
“Tennis season needs to come back faster,” said junior Leora Furman. The 2025-26 season shows a lot of promise as the team has four returning seniors on the squad.
The team has five juniors with lots of tennis experience that are dominating the tennis court. There are six total sophomores that will keep the Bengal womens tennis tradition alive and flourishing in the years to come.
The team is currently sitting at an overall winning record of 4-3 and a conference record of 4-2. Juniors Morgan Bidwell and Hannah Grace Epp are dominating the doubles circuit and sitting at an impressive 3-1 record.
In singles, junior Parker Adams is also playing great tennis with a 3-2 record in the 2 singles category.
“I think that we have a very promising team,” said coach Marshall Wortham.
The next game is Sept. 17 against Cleveland High School.
