As the school year comes to a close, students at Fuquay-Varina High School are eagerly making plans to make this the best summer ever. Whether it’s travelling, working, or just enjoying the time off, students are ready for the change of pace after a challenging year.
For many students, summer is about relaxation and spending time with friends or family.
“I’m going to work part time at my job, and I’ll make sure I have time to spend with friends, going to the beach, concerts, and more,” said sophomore Jaxten Sola.
Others dive more into their hobbies and accomplish personal goals.
“I want to get better at guitar over the summer. I am going to practice everyday while still spending time with my family,” said junior Braylon Sola.
Local businesses are also preparing for the influx of students. Businesses will have hundreds of candidates hoping to work over the summer.
“I’m working at Mcdonald’s this summer and I’m pretty excited. I’ll be making good money,” said sophomore Sean Philips.
Some students are even using summer to start prepping for college applications, visiting campuses, or volunteering to gain experience in fields they’re interested in. Others are attending summer camps or workshops to build skills in areas like coding, creative writing, or photography, turning their break into self-improvement.
While not every student has detailed plans yet, it’s clear that summer 2025 is shaping up to be full of growth, exploration and fun. Whether they are staying locally in North Carolina or venturing beyond, Fuquay-Varina High School students are ready to take advantage of every opportunity the season has to offer.
