A majority of students at FVHS are already thinking about what college they want to attend. Some students have always known where they want to go, while some are constantly being asked the question: “Where are you going to college?” We asked students what their dream college is and what they would like to major in.
Students like sophomore Bianca Hernandez Garcia want to become some kind of doctor.
Garcia said, “My dream college is Duke University because of how well it’s known for STEM courses and for its well known medical programs. It’s also not too far from home and tuition wouldn’t be as expensive compared to out-of-state universities. I would like to major in biology to help me get a career in medicine to become an OB/GYN.”
Sophomore Tiffany Nguyen would also like to work in the medical field.
“My dream college is either UNC or NC State. I would go to UNC because they’re well known for dental health,” said Nguyen.
Some students want to take the business route and go to a school that has a good program for it.
Sophomore Justin Odom said, “Ideally, I would like to go to the University of Miami to major in business. I also would want to go just because I like the beach.”
There are also students like sophomore Bradley Tuttle who would rather go to trade school than college.
Tuttle said, “I would rather go to a trade school to become an electrician, but I wouldn’t mind going to NC State for engineering.”
Each person has a significant difference in their route they are taking after high school. Whether it’s to trade school, college, or even the military, most high schoolers already have their mind on the career they are going to pursue in the future.
