AI is everywhere nowadays, in newspapers, magazines, music and more. It’s impressive but sometimes scary. Technology is advancing so fast that some people are left wondering when it’s going to become smarter than the human mind.
The answer is simple: never.
AI is great at copying what already exists. It can write an essay with perfect grammar, solve math equations in seconds and generate entire songs or stories. But despite all of that, it lacks one of the most important parts of being human: emotion. AI just mimics what’s already out there. AI doesn’t feel anything. There are no memories, experiences, or emotions being expressed in any sort of creation by AI.
Only humans have the ability to write something that comes from the heart, to create art that reflects real love or joy.
A machine can string together words that sound nice, but it doesn’t understand what those words actually mean. It doesn’t know what it’s like to miss someone, to struggle through something difficult, or to fall in love.
It can try and guess what human feelings would look like but it will never have the ability to make someone feel the chills of a scary movie or the butterflies of a romance.
Everything it knows is because of us. It doesn’t think independently or form opinions.
Senior Carson Allen said, “If a human created AI, then AI can never actually surpass humans.”
Not everyone agrees that AI can never surpass the human mind. Some believe that AI is already faster, more efficient and less likely to make errors. But at the end of the day, AI will always lack the creativity and the ability to connect with humans on a deeper level.
AI is a tool that helps humans make their lives easier, not a replacement for the human mind.
