Bill Belicheck is beginning his first season as the head coach of the UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heels, and already he is creating controversy by involving his girlfriend in the running of the team.
According to several sources, Belicheck’s girlfriend is 24 year old Jordan Hudson, whom Belichick reportedly met on a flight to Miami several years ago. He and his girlfriend caused controversy when the two went on CBS’s “Face the Nation” for a sit down interview, which turned quite a few heads in the sports world when she stopped the interview and refused to let him answer a question about where they met.
The 73 year old became the head coach of the Tar Heels at the end of last season, and he has been promising to build the Heels into a championship team, similar to how Deion Sanders has built the University of Colorado football team into a championship team through recruitment.
Belichick’s girlfriend has been put in charge of the Tar Heels football’s social media accounts and was seen with her boyfriend at the first spring practices.
What makes this odd is that Belichick has never given in to temptation like this before. He is usually a guy who harbors no distractions on and off the football field, which means that this is something completely new for him during his career.
What this shows is that Belichick’s girlfriend is increasingly endearing herself to him to the point where he trusts her to run the publicity campaign for the football team.
The relationship between the team and Belichick may get a bit more rocky the more he involves his girlfriend in the team.
If Belichick’s tenure at UNC gets off to a good start, the media will move on from this circus to other topics. If Belichick doesn’t, then the scrutiny about his girlfriend being involved in running the team will be put under the microscope more and more. All I have to say is that this type of relationship between the two is odd to say the least.
