As springtime comes to an end and summer weather starts to approach, North Carolina temperatures begin to rise, providing teens and students the opportunity for more activities and hobbies that can only be enjoyed in the heat.

The average low temperature in Fuquay-Varina during the month of March was a chilling 38 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average high temperature was only 62 degrees Fahrenheit. Through the months of April and May, those averages rise to much warmer temperatures, with the average low at around 60 to 62 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average high at around 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

These warmer temperatures allow teens and students to participate in their hobbies or activities that they would otherwise not be able to do because of the colder weather. Some of these activities include swimming, going to the beach, participating in outdoor sports, getting ice cream or other sweet treats, or picnicking.

Whether it’s cooling down or just enjoying the heat, the possibilities for activities during the spring-summertime are endless.

“I like to go on the trampoline and just spray the hose everywhere and jump around,” said senior Graham Hodge.

Graham, along with others, like to appreciate the heat by spending time outdoors and just having fun, in this case on a trampoline. These warmer temperatures provide people the opportunity to enjoy activities that would otherwise be “too cold” or “not fitting” for the type of weather North Carolina is used to seeing during the early spring time.

“I really like to fish when it’s hot out. I feel like that’s the best time for fishing in my opinion,” said sophomore Adam Stransky.

Stransky is a very avid fisher but prefers to do this hobby during warm weather. Additionally, fishing in late spring to early summertime is ideal because of the increased feeding activity and higher chances of catching fish.

Warmer weather gives Fuquay students the chance to get back into hobbies they might have skipped during colder months. Whether it’s being outside more or just taking advantage of the longer days, the higher temperatures make it easier to stay active and have fun.
