The FVHS track team has been having a successful season so far, as the team has learned how to bond and work together efficiently. Having teammates who support you beyond the sport is something special. It gives you a different kind of motivation and determination to have a team that feels like a family.
Senior Ella Hess said, “I do feel like our team is a family. We always support each other and not only does that bring us together, but it makes you feel like you are a part of something.”
Track competition is always improving, but the FVHS track team makes sure to carry on with a good mindset.
“The competition around me is constantly setting good numbers which inspires me to keep up with them and helps my growth,” said senior Jack Owen.
This team is very persistent with making sure that they not only make themselves proud, but also their team and coach.
“I don’t like disappointing my track coaches or teammates, so that pushes me,” said sophomore Eleanny Martinez.
Track athletes usually have a pre-meet routine that they follow through with every time in order to focus while preparing.
Martinez said, “I usually listen to music and try to focus on what I need to work on or what I have been working on at practice.”
Music is a very common way for track athletes to calm their nerves and focus.
Similarly Hess said, “I listen to music, try to stay focused, and watch other people run. This makes sure that I have the right mindset and that I’m not thinking about the things around me.”
Track athletes have to be very focused in order to accomplish and achieve their goals.
“I have a pre-meet routine that I follow every time that helps me get into the right mindset and stay focused,” said Owen.
These track athletes work very hard to achieve their goals and show their good sportsmanship and determination throughout their meets.
The team’s next meet is on April 10 at FVHS.
